Transfer message history to a new device
When you sign in on a new phone or computer, your old messages are transferred from your other device where your account is open. The transferred data is encrypted as it is sent between devices, and both devices verify each other’s identity; the Flowsy server can’t read the transferred messages. The keys for encrypted photos, videos and documents are transferred too. For details, see Encryption when linking a new device.
How does the transfer work?
- Sign in on the new device.
- A Message history request window opens on your other device. Tap Send to start the transfer. If you don’t want to transfer, choose Reject.
- On the new device, a transfer banner appears above the chat list and shows the progress as a percentage.
If the transfer is stuck waiting
- If the banner says the history is awaited from your other device, open Flowsy on that device and make sure it’s connected to the internet.
- If needed, tap Ask again on the banner.
Note: Both devices need to stay connected to the internet during the transfer. Don’t close Flowsy on your other device until the transfer is done.
