Restore from a backup

When you sign in to Flowsy and a backup for your account is found, the restore screen opens before the home screen.

To find your backup, you need to be signed in to iCloud with the Apple account you backed up with, and iCloud Drive must be on. If iCloud is off, the restore screen is skipped.

To find your backup, choose the Google account you backed up with. If Flowsy can’t find the account by itself, tap Search Google Drive and choose your account.

Restore

  1. On the Backup found screen, check the backup’s date and size.
  2. Tap Restore. If the backup is end-to-end encrypted, enter your password or 64-digit key.
  3. When it’s done, the number of restored messages is shown. Tap Next.

Your messages appear right away; photos and other media keep restoring in the background. If the restore is interrupted, the screen appears again the next time you open Flowsy.

Continue without restoring

If you don’t want to restore the backup, tap Skip. To restore later, go to You > Chats > Chat Backup > Restore from backup.

Note: If your account is also open on another device, missing messages can be transferred from that device as well; see Transfer message history to a new device.
